Bonding over sweet treats with the family shouldn't stop just because the holiday season is over. I, for one, took advantage of the last weekend before school started this 2013 to prepare an easy, yet delish, dessert to share with the boys.
The recipe for Bavarian Peaches and Cream is one of the many recipes featured at the NESTLÉ Cream Facebook page.
6 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups NESTLÉ Fresh Milk
1/8 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp unfflavored gelatin
1 pack NESTLÉ Cream (250 mL chilled and whipped)
3-4 pieces canned peaches, thinly sliced
- In a small bowl, whisk egg yolks with sugar and set aside.
- In a saucepan, bring NESTLÉ Fresh Milk and vanilla to a boil. Slowly pour 1/4 cup of the hot milk to the egg mixture, whisking continuously. Pour the tempered eggs back into the saucepan. Add gelatin and cook for 3 more minutes until dissolved.
- Fold whipped cream into cooled milk.
To assemble: Arranges peaches in the bottom of a single-serve glass container. Pour in cream until half-filled and make another layer of peaches and cream. Garnish with more peaches and chill until ready to serve.
This dessert is a certified hit! The cream is not as sweet as I thought it would be and it provided the perfect balance for the canned peaches that's already sweetened with heavy syrup. It's very easy to make, too. I'm going to make a bigger batch next time to serve at a party here at home.
