When I was still little, one of the many things I look forward to during the Christmas season were the Christmas cards being sent to us from our loved ones abroad. A cousin of mine who used to work in Kuwait would always address my Christmas cards in school and I would beam with pride every time it's delivered in our classroom. I received the coolest cards ever! They were the ones that play music when you open them.

I stopped receiving Christmas cards more than a decade ago. I also stopped sending some to relatives and friends. I guess, this is one of the downsides of technology and the Internet. E-cards are now the way to go. They're more inexpensive and they don't use paper.
Then again, I would love my son to experience sending and receiving holiday cards to our relatives and friends. This year, I have ordered Christmas cards and I will have him write and send some to his closest friends. I want him to have a more personal relationship with the people around him this Christmas. And besides, wouldn't it be sweet to re-read old Christmas cards after a few years?
What's your take on this? Cards or e-cards?
