Women’s Laundry Woes
The research showed that Filipino moms are afraid to use their washing machine for their silk clothing (67%), delicate wear (52%), cashmere clothing (40%), and wool clothing (39%).
Among the top reasons why they fear putting these types of fabric into the washing machine are:
- The washing machine might ruin the clothes (58%);
- Machine washing might cause shrinkage (17%); and,
- The colors might fade (4%).
Moreover, the research showed that moms worry more about himulmol, stubborn stains, and mishaping of clothes. I can personally relate to this as I wash these fabrics by hand even when I know that it will take so much of my time. In fact, I am scouting for a really good washing machine and fabric care is the top feature that I’m looking for. Yes, affordability does matter but still, what good would a cheap washing machine do if it ruins precious clothes, right? And guess what? Seventy-seven percent (77%) of the women who participated in the research have the same preference as mine.
