ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 is this mommy's new buddy

Smartphones make moms' lives easier. Agree? If you're like me who's juggling home, business, ministry, and blogging activities every single day, an efficient smartphone is a blessing. So last week, I got hold of the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0. I've already seen blogger friends raving about ASUS ZenFone smartphones in their blogs and now I know why. And though there are so many things to be happy about ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0, I would concentrate on things that a mom like me would love about it.

Design, build, and display

I should admit that the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 is one gorgeous smartphone. It has an ergonomic arc design (that makes it easy to grip with one hand) without sacrificing style and beauty. The volume/shutter keys are conveniently located at the back, under the camera lens, which makes it easier for me to take a selfie. We will delve more on the cam's features later.

The power button is located at the top edge which for me will take a lot of getting used to. My old phone had its power/lock button on the side.

The phone is thin (with the thinnest edge measuring at 3.99mm) making it comparable to the iPhone 6 plus but without the flat surface.

I can say that the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 is one of the toughest phones compared to those within its price range because it features a 5.0-inch HD IPS Display covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Simply put, the screen does not only provide vibrant display but is also scratch-free. Most of all, it has twice the drop-damage resistance than its predecessor.

Performance

ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 claims to be one of the quickest in the market with a touch response time of just 60ms. Response time is fast but I'm expecting that because my unit is still new. Then again, I've tested touching it with my wet fingers and the phone still responded normally unlike my other smartphone. Sweaty hands will now be a problem of the past, LOL!

The 2000 mAH battery is removable which I like. I'm one heavy smartphone user and I still needed to charge the phone at night. Still a far cry that the smartphone I am using now which requires me to charge it twice daily.

Meanwhile, ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 comes with the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad-core processor and equipped with 2GB ddr3 RAM. My unit came with 16GB internal storage but there is an 8GB variant. External storage is supported up to 128GB.

Camera

The ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 is the first smartphone it its price range to have an 8-megapixel camera guided with a laser auto-focus. This infrared laser measures distances at lightning speed thus making the phone auto-focus faster. Amazingly, it also takes clear and crisp photos even in low light. Thanks to its f/2.0-aperture Toshiba lens.

Used the phone as a camcorder in my son's musical play in school.

The phone's PixelMaster 2.0 camera interestingly has a lot more modes compared to other smartphones in the same price range. Aside from Auto, it also includes Super Resolution, Effect, Miniature, Low Light, Selfie, HDR, Depth of Field, Panorama, Night, All Smiles, Smart Remove, Time Rewind, GIF Animation, Selfie, Beautification, and the Manual mode that is really a plus for DSLR camera users like me.

And speaking of selfies, I already mentioned earlier how the shutter button is conveniently located at the back of the phone. But what makes ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0's a  selfie-addict's dream is the real-time Beautification mode. This provides skin softening, skin brightening, blush, eye enhancement, cheek thinning, and color correction. Lastly, it also has a panorama selfie feature that allows a 140-degree selfie taken enabling everyone to fit in just one picture. Oh, you know how barkada's are.

Add-ons

My ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 came with 100GB Google Drive storage that . Is free for 2 years. Not bad at all since I always back up my photos and files in Google Drive.

Most importantly, for mom with small kids (and for aunts like me with little nephews and nieces!), it comes with a Kids Mode app that, once activated, gives kids a safer Internet surfing environment by filtering inappropriate websites. A PIN is assigned to restrict kids access to apps that are to supposed to be off limits such as the call history, messages, documents, etc.

Lastly, the Remote Link feature turns the device into a wireless touchpad, keyboard, and a controller of Powerpoint and Windows Media Player in the PC.  I find this very useful in my meeting presentations in my church ministry work. No more need to buy a wireless remote clicker.

Price

Being a budget-conscious mom, I would still prioritize price over the high-tech features. If a phone has all these for a very affordable price, then, it's 2 thumbs up for me. Well, the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 passes this requirement. It's only sold in the market for only Php 7,295.
