My Pisay Scholar

Surprise, surprise! My boy is going to the Philippine Science High School! The announcement came just last week, four days after my boy's 13th birthday. And although he's being admitted as an alternate scholar (sort of replacing someone who backed out), it still is a blessing for us, nevertheless.

Officially enrolled. #Repost from @rapidoflores with @repostapp

After 5 days of receiving the Registrar's text message, Rap is now officially enrolled. We were actually just given 24 hours to decide if we are going to accept the scholarship or not. I admit that I was hesitant at first because I enrolled him in Lourdes School of Mandaluyong for Grade 8 before we left for Singapore the week before this announcement. I've already paid his miscellaneous fees in full (he's also a full scholar being the valedictorian of his batch); and bought all his books, supplies, and complete sets of high school uniforms. But it is Pisay. I know Rap will have the time of his life learning with and from the best minds of the country.

The photo above shows the enrollment forms that we filled up prior to enrollment day. Included in the lot are binding contracts and waivers that prohibit us to emigrate abroad during the entire 6-year high school curriculum. Also, Rap would only enroll in science or math related college courses listed in the scholarship agreement we signed. Failing to do so will have us pay the entire amount spent for his high school education.

We're still clueless of the days that would follow as Rap is the first in both sides of our family to enter Pisay. I am still waiting for Rap's room assignment in the school's Boys Dormitory then, we'll bring him there come Independence Day for the dorm check-in. I am anxious, yet thankful, that my son got in after all. What's next for me are the sleepless nights I'll spend worrying and praying that he survive all the stress of high school life in the country's premier science high school.
