If you have a boy like me, K-Zone is probably in your monthly To-Buy list. Honestly, it's not only my boy who enjoys it but us adults as well. I especially love reading the Game Zone section because my boy and I also bond through video games. Rap, on the other hand, is engrossed in increasing his Foldabots collection. This is why he's super excited for Foldabots Toy Book 4!.
The good news is, the fourth installment of Jomike Tejido's Foldabots Toy Book is going to be launched this Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 2-5 p.m. at Powerbooks Greenbelt 3 in Makati. If you want to join the games and win prizes, you got to be at Powerbooks and register from 1 to 2 p.m..
I am definitely buying one for Rap and maybe a few more as Christmas gifts for my bigger inaanaks. I like it because it develops imagination and creativity in kids. Judging from the book cover, I'm sure the Foldabots inside this collection are worth buying.

I dislike Tuesdays. My boy stays in school for choir practice so he can’t ride the school service going home. I have no choice but to commute to fetch my son from school. Since it’s already the rush hour by the time he gets out of the campus, we just wait for my husband to leave the office and meet us for dinner before driving home.
This particular Tuesday was the busiest so far. At the school gate, my son announced that he has a quiz and two assignments all for the following school day. Before he left in the morning, I already told him that we’ll have to take a short trip to the supermarket and to the bookstore to buy the materials he needs for his Science experiment. So we head to the mall to accomplish what’s needed to be done.
I knew my boy was already hungry judging from the look on his face and his faint whining so I thought of having snacks first. I found it the perfect time to help him review for his quiz, anyway. We’re done with all the eating and the school works in an hour and a half.
Next, we went to the supermarket to buy the materials he needs for his Science experiment. We bought three different brands of dishwashing liquid and sponges. I also included some grocery essentials that we will use for the week. I think that was the shortest grocery trip I have ever made in my life. Fifteen minutes tops, including the time spent at the check-out counter.
The data and results of the Science experiment will be collated and presented in a scrapbook. That’s the reason why we had to schedule a trip to the bookstore. It’s already seven in the evening and my husband usually leaves the office at 7:30. I told my son that we’ll have to be quick in finding the scrapbooking materials. In twenty minutes, we were already lined up in front of the cashier with the supplies that we needed.
By eight o’ clock, my boy and I are already in the car with my husband and on our way to grab a bite before heading home. I still haven’t withdrawn cash from the ATM machine for our dinner. Good thing, my boy found the VISA sign outside his favorite pizza place. We’re back home by nine o’ clock in time for my son’s bedtime.
Just imagine what my day would have been like if I did not have my VISA Debit card with me. My VISA Debit card allowed me to shop and pay without the hassles of falling in line in the ATM booth or carrying cash while commuting to my son’s school and walking to the mall. I just hand over my VISA Debit card to the cashier and sign the charge slip after. That’s it! No need to input my card’s PIN in the presence of other people. For me, VISA Debit is the easiest, most secure, and most convenient payment option.

Being a girl, I was taught a lot of household chores growing up. I learned how to cook, wash the dishes, do the laundry, and tend for our small store even before I hit puberty. I believe this has taught me the value of hard work at an early age. I also want to develop this trait in my child.
My boy now knows how to wash the dishes, set the table, and help prepare simple meals. He can operate the microwave oven and cook his snacks. Once, he made us grilled cheese sandwiches using the sandwich maker. He doesn't know how to use the stove and oven yet but I already taught him some of the basic steps in cooking. I'm also thankful that he learned to do so some of these stuff during their Work Ed classes in school. Oh, he does quick errands for me, too!
I don't ask him to do chores on school days, though. I feel that he's already too tired when he comes home. Besides, he's always got a lot of homework and school projects to do. I'd like him to focus on his school work more. When I think about it, he's luckier than me because I had to do the chores whether I like it or not, school nights and weekends.
The age of 9 to 12 is the best time to teach kids the value of work. They're big enough to handle simple responsibilities and old enough to understand the consequences, don't you agree? It doesn't mean that you're going to give your tweens heavy tasks such as rv repairs anyway. In the end, they'll thank you for it just as how I'm thankful that my parents taught me these household chores.

The Manila Electric Company, or Meralco, is the Philippines' biggest distributor of electrical power. The company currently serves a quarter of the country's 94 million population which is basically concentrated in Metro Manila the nearby provinces of Bulacan, Rizal and Cavite, and parts of Laguna, Quezon, Batangas, and Pampanga. In an effort to serve its customers to the fullest, Meralco utilized the Internet through Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and through the newly revamped Meralco website.
As you can see, the new Meralco website is conveniently divided into two parts - The Company and For Customers. The Company contains information about Meralco's corporate governance, news and updates, and the facts that suppliers should know. Meanwhile, everything we need to know as customers of Meralco are all in the For Customers section. Meralco put a Quick Link sidebar at the left side of the page to make browsing easier for consumers. All of these were presented to me and other bloggers during the Meralco Bloggers Quiz Night.
The AppCal is available for iOS, Blackberry, and Android devices. I installed it in my Samsung Galaxy Tab and also in my boy's iPod Touch so he can be more conscious in conserving energy in our home. Rap got interested in calculating our appliances' electric usage especially the usage of his gadgets. He was also shocked that half of our monthly bill is from the electricity used by the refrigerator and our air conditioning units.
Visit www.meralco.com.ph to check out the revamped website. For your immediate concerns, you can also reach Meralco by calling 16211, texting 0920-9292824 or 0917-5592824, or visting their Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/meralco), Twitter (@meralco), and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/meralcoph) accounts.

I was only 22 years old when my boy was born. Though, I have already experienced caring for a baby when I was younger (I took care of my baby brother when I was 11), it's a totally different ball game when you're caring for your own child.
Nothing could have prepared me for motherhood. There's just so many things to learn and consider! I had no one to count on but myself because we were already living on our own down South of Manila until my boy was six. Thankfully, I survived through occasional phone calls and visits to my parents, parenting books and magazines, and dial-up internet.
Moms of today are more fortunate because they have so many parenting resources in their hands and most of these are over the internet. It's easier to exchange parenting notes with friends over social networking sites. Moms can also learn easier because of how-to-videos in video sharing sites. There are also websites dedicated in sharing vital information and advice to moms and even moms-to-be. One of these sites is the Drypers Wee Wee Dry website.
The site is a gateway for the Drypers Baby Club where visitors can join. After signing up, you can personalize the content you receive based on the stage or timeline of your baby or toddler. It's the perfect venue for moms and expectant women to interact and exchange tips about parenting, pregnancy, and everything in between.
It's very easy to sign up. Personally, I would recommend choosing to connect your Facebook account to your Drypers Baby Club account. All you'll have to do is to click the LOGIN button at the right topmost corner of the homepage and choose LOGIN WITH FACEBOOK.
Next, you should ALLOW the Drypers.com.ph App to access your Facebook account.
The next step would then be filling up your personal details before clicking the REGISTER button.
Now, here's a special treat for you! Thanks to Drypers Wee Wee Dry, I will be raffling off Drypers Wee Wee Dry Jumbo packs to five (5) lucky Drypers Baby Club members who will connect with me in the site!
To add me up, you will only have to access your Drypers Baby Club profile and click EDIT FRIENDS.
Next, you'll have to click PEOPLE SEARCH to be able to search for my profile.
Type in my username, the24hourmommy, in the search box,
and click ADD TO FRIENDS once you're already on my profile page. You should also sign in my GUEST BOOK so that I can verify your entry more easily.
After signing up and adding me, kindly leave a comment below answering the question I indicated in the Rafflecopter widget with your name and the email address you used in signing up for the Drypers Baby Club. The rest of the mechanics are in the Rafflecopter widget below.
Good luck, everyone! Hope to make chika with you at the Drypers Baby Club soon!

A Facebook page has been gaining popularity over the week. It was created after the supposedly "Photoshopped" photo of top Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials inspecting the damage brought by Typhoon Pedring at the baywalk along Roxas Boulevard. Pinoys weren't happy of the photo because they felt betrayed. I, for one, was disappointed. However, creative Pinoys showed their outrage by creating their own versions of the photo.
I did not post photos here because I know I have to get permission from their owners yet. If you'd like to see them and have a good laugh, better type DPWHERE in your Facebook search box and it will lead you straight to its page.
I'm still learning the ropes of Adobe Photoshop. Usually, I use Lightroom to enhance my digital photos. I hope I have more time to develop my Photoshop skills like the guys over at DPWHERE. I would definitely need that to make Bachelorette Party Invitations for a friend.
Do you think you can create your own version of the photo for DPWHERE? Let me know so I can see it!
